Since stepping into the music scene\, she has been spotlighted by Rolling Stone\, i-D Magazine\, and NPR\, where she emerged as a standout entry in the 2022 Tiny Desk Contest. DESCRIPTION:Dance Talk – The Journey: 40 Year Evolution of Ronald K. Brown & EVIDENCE presented by dance historian Sandra L. Burton.\n\n\nA conversation and multimedia presentation with dance historian Sandra L. Burton\, reflecting on Brown’s artistic arc\, his global influence\, and his commitment to community storytelling. \n \nBiography Sandra L. BurtonSandra L Burton is a choreographer\, dancer\, educator and arts presenter. Her current projects include collaboration with visual and performance artist Tsedaye Makonnen\, The Clark Art Institute and Williams College Museum of Art on the Astral Sea Series\, 2023-25. Other projects include choreography for composer Craig Harris’ Gods Trombones\, collaboration with visual artist Nick Cave’s for his Sound Suits\, Carrie Mae Weems film Coming Up for Air. She was a founding member of poet Sekou Sundiata’s band Are and Be\, co-curated the exhibition African Americans and the American Scene :1929-1945 for the Williams College Museum of Art with Dahlia Scruggs and co-founded the Lift Ev’ry Voice Festival\, celebrated in Berkshire County\, Massachusetts from 2011-2016.Choreography for theater includes five seasons with the Williamstown Theater Festival\, Actors Equity productions at Goodman Theater in Chicago and Playmakers Repertory in Chapel Hill\, NC. She was a member of the Chuck Davis Dance Company for twelve years and an artist in residence with the National Endowment for the Arts for five years. Burton is a trustee of Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival\, served as board member for New England Foundation for the Arts and MASS MoCA.Burton is Lipp Family Director and Chair of Dance at Williams College and WEB DuBois Forum Fellow. She has an M.F.A from Bennington College\, BA from City College and an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
