The Billie partners with Bed-Stuy Art House to celebrate human rights activist Malcolm X and playwright Lorraine Hansberry.

Born on the same day, May 19, these two visionaries reshaped how we see ourselves, our power, and each other.

A new generation of artists gathers to reinterpret their words, drawing from speeches, interviews, and letters, through theater, live music, and performance rooted in the Bed-Stuy Art House community.

At a time when everything is shifting, what does it mean to return to the foundation, and who do we become when we do?

This work invites artists and audiences alike to engage Malcolm and Lorraine not as history, but as a living foundation for our civic practice and our theatrical expression.
